5 Easy and Safe Steps to Shaving Hair in the Female Area

admin Last updated on: February 16, 2024

To overcome this, let’s follow the steps to shave pubic hair according to the directions of Gary Goldenberg, professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine. Guaranteed the skin around the female area is free from irritation and ingrown hairs.

1. Cut the pubic hair using scissors

If your pubic hair is too long, it’s a good idea to trim it before you start shaving. You can use medium to small scissors or a bikini trimmer. Don’t cut it too short and make sure the scissors don’t touch the skin of the female area during the process.

Trimming pubic hair makes shaving easier. That way there will be no hair stuck in the shaver which is one of the main factors causing irritation.

2. Exfoliate the skin around the female area

The next step is skin exfoliation around the female area. You can use a bath sponge, towel, or natural sponge made from loofah to exfoliate the skin of the female area.

You only need to rub the bath sponge gently so it doesn’t cause irritation. The exfoliation process is able to remove dead skin cells in the groin and around the female area. That way you can shave as close to the roots as possible.

3. Use cream for shaving

It is not recommended to shave pubic hair directly. This can trigger inflammation of the skin in the female area. If irritation has occurred, a reddish lump will appear like a boil and make the skin around the female area feel itchy and painful.

To overcome this, use shaving cream around the area to be shaved. In addition to smoothing the results of shaving, shaving cream can also reduce friction between the razor and the skin surface. Use a shaving cream that doesn’t contain alcohol and has a sharp enough fragrance.

4. Shave in the direction of growth

To avoid irritation, you can direct the shaver according to the direction of hair growth. Do it with gentle and light movements in a state where the skin in the female area is pulled tight. Repeat until all pubic hair has been shaved off.

The next step is to wash around the female area with warm water and then dry it with a clean towel. This is done to close the skin pores in order to get a gentle shave. Avoid using soap to anticipate inflammation and irritation of the skin.

5. Apply moisturizer if necessary

If necessary, you can apply a moisturizing cream without alcohol and fragrances such as Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. Moisturizing cream is effective in keeping the skin in the female area soft and free from inflammation that causes boils.

Apart from moisturizing cream, you can also apply baby oil. Choose baby oil that does not contain fragrances because it can make the skin feel sore and irritated.

So that the area around the genitals remains smooth and hairless, you can shave it every three to five days. If you don’t have much time and you have sensitive skin, it is recommended to shave your pubic hair once every two weeks.
